Gov - Divide and Conquer
Many in politics want you to believe that Americans live in a free country. That we are free to choose to do whatever we want. That we are free to choose our own "leaders". But slowly, surely, we have become less and less free. Government slowly encroaches on our lives to control more and more "in the name of the public good". Often times you will hear phrases like "for public safety" or "public health" but what that really means is that they want to control your choices so that you can only choose from the approved list of options that they have determined ahead of time.
Look at our politicians. How many political parties are there in America? Two? Three? Five? There are more political parties in the United States than you can shake the proverbial stick at. But how many of them ever actually end up in any form of power, much less Federal offices? Only two, and of those two, many make the argument that they are actually the same party. Those two parties have, in many instances, actually used the force of law to suppress candidates from other parties from being on ballots or advertising. These politicians have gotten into power and their only goal is not to represent us, but to retain that power.
The fact that here in America, we actually have the term "career politician" in our lexicon and it is an accepted part of life is disturbing. The fact that they spend their lives in one government office or another is akin to saying that they have spent their professional career telling the rest of us what we can and cannot do.
